The Accord on Fire and Building Safety in Bangladesh aims to ensure that no worker needs to fear fires, building collapses, or other preventable accidents.
Signed in response to the Rana Plaza building collapse on April 24, 2013, which killed 1,135 people and injured 2,438, the agreement aims to significantly improve workplace safety for garment workers in Bangladesh.
The Accord is a legally binding agreement between global brands, retailers, and trade unions to guarantee a safe and healthy garment and textile industry in Bangladesh.
